Mail from over there!

A German-German exchange project about origin, identity and "them over there"!

Info text

"Post von drüben!" is a performance series by Futur3, which enables new artistic forms of communication between two societies or social groups. Using participatory means, it allows civil society itself to have its say and encourages people to discuss with each other instead of about each other - beyond media distortion, opinion-making and distorted facts.

For the joint theatre performance by the Kunstfest Weimar and the Asphalt Festival Düsseldorf, the theatre group Futur3 talks to different people from Weimar and Düsseldorf - about their personal relationship to their city and their view of the people on the other side of the republic.

The theatre makers from Futur3 collect the statements, stories and objects from the participants and arrange them in a large postal package addressed to the residents of the other city.

The first package is unpacked in the centre of a performance at the Asphalt Festival Düsseldorf and encourages the audience to deal with the underlying questions themselves:

How do you see the people, mentality and culture in West Germany? Have prejudices or actual differences changed? Or are there no significant differences at all? What would you like to tell "those over there"? Are there objects, activities or songs and texts that clarify your opinion and at the same time best tell about you and your origins?
