from André Erlen

On the initiative of A.TONAL.THEATER, the Cologne ensemble network Freihandelszone is participating in "Performance(s) between two shores" with its festival GLOBALIZE:COLOGNE 2017 together with six other international partners. With this project, the European Union wants to support and promote Arab artists. Only Arab artists who have been living in the EU for a short time (maximum six years) can submit their performance proposals. Artists from the fields of theatre, dance and formative arts can participate. The application period runs until 1 September. The three winners will be invited with their teams to a 30-day residency. During their residency they can develop a new piece for one, two or three performers. The residencies take place at:

Dancing on the Edge (Netherlands, November 2016)

GLOBALIZE:COLOGNE International Platform for Dance & Theatre (Germany, February/March 2017)

Les Bancs Publics (France, March 2017)

Subsequently, all three winning productions will go on tour within the cooperation network between March and December 2017.

Performance(s) between two shores" aims to promote new, dynamic works. The project aims to help Arab artists develop and flourish in Europe and find a new, international audience for their work.
